Here’s another very recent study (Sept 2014) that suggests low carb diets may be better than low fat for both weight loss AND cardiovascular health. The results of a randomized controlled study (which is the most reliable type of study) were reported in the Annals of Internal Medicine. The conclusion stated:
Conclusion: The low-carbohydrate diet was more effective for weight loss and cardiovascular risk factor reduction than the low-fat diet. Restricting carbohydrate may be an option for persons seeking to lose weight and reduce cardiovascular risk factors.
